Raipur (Team GD News). The decision of the Chhattisgarh government to reduce the limit of Bijli Bill Half Scheme from 400 units to 100 units has increased political stir. Congress has called it injustice to the public and announced a statewide agitation, while the BJP retaliated saying that the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana is an attempt to take consumers towards free electricity.
Congress’s allegation – Shock to lakhs of consumers
State Congress President Deepak Baij said that now only half bill will be available on consumption of up to 100 units, whereas earlier this exemption was applicable up to 400 units. According to him, on spending 101 units, the consumer will have to pay the bill for the entire 101 units, which will increase the financial burden on lakhs of people. Baij also raised questions on the problem of power cuts and low voltage in villages and cities.
Bhupesh Baghel says – Tughlaqi Farman
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel termed this decision as Tughlaqi Farman and said that it is a direct economic burden on the general public. Congress communication chief Sushil Anand Shukla alleged that the BJP government has broken the promise made to the public. He claimed that 44 lakh domestic consumers had benefited from this scheme under the Congress rule, saving an average of Rs 40-50 thousand per consumer.
BJP’s defense
The BJP said in response that the Prime Minister Suryaghar Yojana of the Central Government will lead consumers to free electricity in the long run, which will provide permanent relief to the general public. Now the political confrontation has intensified on this issue in the state and it can become a big political controversy in the coming days.
