Raipur : Every work done beyond personal self-interest is an act of service and nation-building. National Service Scheme volunteers are playing a vital role in nation-building. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai stated this while addressing the state-level Foundation Day and Felicitation Ceremony of the National Service Scheme held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, the capital.
Chief Minister Sai said that under the National Service Scheme, more than 400,000 students across the country are working as volunteers. In our state too, more than 100,000 students are actively playing their role, which is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh. We heartily congratulate the volunteers who are being honored today for their outstanding work.
The Chief Minister said that during the freedom struggle, it was believed that serving the nation was about supporting the freedom struggle. Today, now that the country has become independent, serving the nation means contributing comprehensively to social, economic, and cultural development. NSS volunteers are making valuable contributions in this direction.
Explaining the nature of national service to the volunteers, the Chief Minister said that when we plant a tree, we serve the nation. When we take someone to the hospital, we serve the nation. Providing financial assistance or assisting someone in their education is also national service. Every action we take, regardless of personal self-interest, is an act of service and nation-building. He urged NSS volunteers to continue serving wholeheartedly and contribute to the promotion of education so that no one is deprived of it.
Chief Minister Sai said that our government is committed to providing employment to the youth. Under the new industrial policy, facilities are being provided to entrepreneurs providing employment in industries. Investment proposals worth approximately ₹7.5 lakh crore have been received in the last 10 months. This investment will create a large number of employment opportunities.
On this occasion, Higher Education Minister Shri Tankaram Verma said that service is not just about helping others, but it is also a means of shaping character, thinking, and a sense of responsibility. The energy and enthusiasm of youth are the true capital of society and the nation. The dedication and commitment with which NSS volunteers are performing their service work is a testament to the power of our youth. NSS volunteers have played an active role in the success of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. They have made significant contributions in many areas, including disaster management, environmental protection, and health, in urban and rural areas.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai released the National Service Scheme magazine “Samarpan” and the poster of the Vikasit Bharat Quiz program. He also honored organizations, officials, and volunteers doing outstanding work under the National Service Scheme.
Present on this occasion were CSIDC Chairman Rajiv Agarwal, Secretary Higher Education Dr. S. Bharatidasan, Commissioner Higher Education Santosh Kumar Devangan, NSS Deputy Programme Advisor Dr. Ashok Kumar Shroti, State NSS Officer Dr. Neeta Bajpai, NSS Programme Coordinators of all the districts and a large number of volunteers from across the state were present.
