1 min read

New Delhi (Team GD News). The Supreme Court said that there will be no change in the decision of the lower court and Delhi High Court against Medha Patkar. The Supreme Court has refused to interfere in the sentence and conviction of social activist Medha Patkar by the lower court. This case was filed against her in 2001 by V.K. Saxena (who is now the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi). However, the court has also given some relief to Patkar. Both the fine and probation sentence imposed on her have been canceled. While hearing this case, the bench of Justice MM Sundaresh and Justice NK Singh made it clear that there will be no change in the decision of conviction by the lower court and Delhi High Court. Patkar had challenged this decision in the Supreme Court. This defamation case is of the year 2000, when the present Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena was the president of a social organization of Gujarat. At that time Medha Patkar had made several allegations against him.
