NCB sentences drug smuggler to 15 years rigorous imprisonment

Raipur (Team GD News): In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Raipur Zonal Unit has achieved a significant success by convicting two accused.
The court of First District and Additional Sessions Judge, Janjgir, Chhattisgarh convicted both the accused under the NDPS Act. The case pertains to a joint operation conducted by the Indore Zonal Unit of NCB between 9 and 13 September 2023, in which 132.567 kg of ganja was seized from various places in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi. Investigation revealed that the smugglers had sent the drugs through parcels using fake names and addresses.
The main accused Anand Kumar Kashyap (resident Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh) was sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1.5 lakh for drug trafficking. He was also convicted under sections of IPC and IT Act for forgery of PAN and Aadhaar cards. The amount of ₹2.01 lakh deposited in his bank account has been frozen by SAFEMA, Mumbai.
Co-accused Narendra Kumar Prajapati (resident Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan) has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000.
NCB said that this conviction exemplifies the agency’s commitment to realising the goal of a drug-free India. The bureau has appealed to citizens to share information about drug sales on the National Narcotics Helpline 1933. The identity of the informers will be kept confidential.
